You know, I hated her backstory because of killing her husband... but I can't deny that I would love having this brainwashing.

Well, she was trained as an assassin AFTER she was ordered to kill her husband, so maybe she didn't check for a pulse after smothering him with a pillow. Then one day he could try to rescue her (undoing her conditioning using the same techniques used to brainwash her in the first place, of course)

And how do you know if she smothered him? It just said she killed him in his sleep, so for all we know she could've just shot him.

Her brainwashing is also irreparable. She still has parts of her original self, but it's buried very very deep.
