The only other time i really remember mind control being a thing was something involving a parallel universe (or something) where some of the planeteers were corrupted into rat-people.

Too little context. If i had to guess off the top of my head, this is from the episode where the Planeteers meet Zarm, who was Gaia's equivalent from another planet (but, being inherently evil, he had led his planet to destruction and now came to Earth to fuck with Gaia's turf). His introductory episode had him try to tempt the planeteers into becoming, basically, eco-terrorists, by giving them super-powered rings which also corrupted them mentally with the temptation to use extreme force.
The only other time i really remember mind control being a thing was something involving a parallel universe (or something) where some of the planeteers were corrupted into rat-people.
I vaguely remember that same episode [I think? It involved superpowered gauntlets] and thought the same thing, but a little poking online indicates Ma-Ti never accepted the offer, so it might be sometime else.

The episode where Verminous Skumm created a rat-plague that turned people into obedient rat-people had more delightful hypnosis than this episode.
Hmm, i remember that, it was set in the Amazon Rainforest iirc. Then i'm confusing it with the one in the alt-universe where they also get corrupted, but into something else...

that wasn't a parallel universe and yes it did happen, clearly they had watched a bit to much tnmt at that point lol because that had an episode like that

I would suspect the 2 parts episodes of season 1 "Mission to Save Earth" and "Two Futures" though; episodes 22 to 25.
