I was thinking book. I might have things mixed up, since it's been many years since I read it, and the version that I read had a lot things that were originally left on the cutting room floor added in and just noted as edited material.
I definitely remember something about telepathic "senders" trying to dominate people, and nasty bug transformations.

Come to think of it, Dr Benway does sound like someone who would be up TDL's alley.

Honestly, the full context is a little too cringeworthy and niche to really go into; but the general context is that this person is in a mountain compound where the proprietors test and develop girls with certain potential, prototyping them to perfect certain 'models' to be produced to be used in other affliated compounds and groups around the world.

...But seriously full context would both take forever and would so very not be worth it for anyone involved. No, don't even try to say 'let me judge that' or whatever. It really wouldn't. Drop that line of inquiry before you waste your minute typing it out and posting it. Enjoy the smut and the surface level of explanation and leave it at that. Only suffering lies beyond.
