Also it's ironic that YOU say you're out of the Yu-Gi-Oh loop when I stopped giving a crap after the GX anime :P So I don't know a thing about the majority of the new features and mechanics added since then. Synchro monsters, xyz monsters, Pendulums, Link summoning, NO clue on how ANY of those work :P

Ya they're still around but like every sub type they get abandoned pretty quickly

Back when I did play I loved to build bizarre theme decks. One that I let some tweak they ruined it rtying to make it 'better.
It was a defense only deck. Super dumb and gimmicky but fun, nothing but monster with high defense and stuff to keep my life points from being touched.

I believe we have received Shinobirds as a spirit/ritual archetype in tcg (recently). Never played them, though.
