Hey guys, sorry for taking a good while between first mentioning this and finally getting it out the window, but here’s a version 1.0 of the official seamless commissions page. As of writing i’m still in the process of finishing off i think my fifth or so commissioned work, so i figured it’s about time i crank this out. One of the reasons this took me some time was I was also working on putting together a Patreon page which you can check out over here: www.patreon.com/seamless3d
I’ve been wanting to make up content more consistently for a while now and I think the baseline stability running a patreon page provides would definitely help make that goal more of a reality. I should stress that please don’t feel pressured to support the page! Short of suddenly working as an actual full time 3D animator, I’ll likely be habitually uploading content just for the hell of it for a good while yet, regardless of the status of the patreon.
Outside of commission work (which I leave up the commissioner to decide on whether or not the result is shared publicly), I don’t want any of my content to be gated to anyone who can’t afford it. So with that in mind, the couple of tiers I have on the patreon are all geared around extra material, namely:
Early access to watermark-less and HD renders of animations, including the gifs + the raw frames from an animation.
Previews of works in progress
Alternate camera angle takes
Outtakes/Test work
And some polls I’d like to run here and there to get an idea of what you guys would like to see more of, which could be anything from getting ideas for general types of animations you’d like to see, to specific voting from a selection of ideas to decide what I work on first.
I have a few other ideas I may get around to implementing into the patreon as it continues (potential monthly commission raffles for the top tier, alternate skins in animations, some pinup posters, etc.), but right now I just want to see if I can run it in the first place before I add anything else into the mix.
So the only thing that’s gonna change for my content over here is some hopefully non-obtrusive watermarking on my posts (very likely going to just be a transparent link to the patreon in one of the corners). Other than that, I should hopefully only be putting out a good bit more content for the foreseeable future!
I’m logging off for the night for now, but if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to bring them up and i’ll try to respond as soon as I can. Thanks again for the support over the past few months, everyone!

While we could see that akin to manipping, which uses art by somebody else already existing, I have never seen someone offer commission for manipping an existing picture.
Don't get me wrong, the idea of making 3D animations and getting paid for your time is fine in my eyes. I am just doubting that it is a good idea that you are using ripped ORIGINAL models created by Blizzard AND asking for money.

I just like to point out that this problem is somewhat solved with MMD as you may potentially end up using models that have been, edited or created and are otherwise considered "original" by the community overall. Just to be clear though, I would also be interested in having copyrighted models and original models of copyrighted characters animated as well.

I'm a bit torn about what you are offering here. While other commissions use their own art by drawing characters themselves, you are using models that to my knowledge, and correct me if I am wrong, have been mostly ripped out of Overwatch (at least in your examples).

I get what you mean, but my impetus for opening commissions and the patreon has been based on the fact i've had numerous people commission me as is, as well as requests to start a patreon too. so given that there's been literal demand im mostly setting this up to meet the supply.
as for copyright on the models? i honestly have no idea what the exact status is on that. its on my bad for only putting OW chars in there (i can work with a lot more but havent had the chance as of late) but even with those OW models i use, several of them are pretty heavily modified and im really not sure where they sit.
at the end of the day im not gonna get mad if blizzard decide to suddenly DMCA my stuff, because they probably are in the right for it! (i would be grateful if jeff kaplan could spare me his wrath though) hopefully this clears stuff up a bit for you anyway!
Are you any good with MMD? That program has more of the style of models that I'm into.
well i straight up didnt know it existed till now. ill give it a look through and see if i can pull off anything decent with it!

Thanks. That's great to hear. I might have a lot of work for you depending on what you can do. I don't know just how steep the learning curb is between programs like SFM and MMD but I think it's something you'll be able to grasp.
Wall of text below (roughly 6-7 paragraphs:
I understand about not knowing about the program. I found out about source film make around the middle of last year. I found out about MMD about 4 years before that and I had given up on it after 2 years when I ended up breaking laptop and losing all of the models I had scavenged the net for over the first course of my interest in the program. After that I took about about a two year break and I guess I'm a bit into it again.
If I could give you one peace of advice, don't give in to model madness...! In all seriousness, MMD models can be pretty appealing to people, especially to anime fans who just want to animate their waifus or something of the like. However the community can be quite unpredictable and the availability of models can fluctuate like lines of heat in the Sahara.
The obsession with searching for each and every model the you find exists can be enough to make you insane. I can honestly say that when I first lost my MMD models I wanted to crawl into a hole and cry out to death. In fact, I kind of did.
My point is, to this day there are still plenty of models that are being made and are not distributed to the public as well as ones that next to nobody can and/or will distribute anymore.
I just don't want you to get so obsessed with the hunt that it takes you away from your original goal. It's easy to get sidetracked when looking for MMD models.
Just when you think you've found them all, there's always a new one...
Just when you think your satisfied, someone produces that one character you've always wanted a model of but they might not even share it...
Just when you think you might have found away to be okay with what you have you get another "harmless" itch in the back of your mind telling you to go look "just once" and "real quick" for another one, for any given reason...
It can be quite subsuming.
I guess what I'm trying to say is be careful. In your case, you should probably be fine as long as you remember that if you can make your own satisfactory animations in MMD most of your clients, like myself, can and will provide their own models for you to animate.
Also I should also say that a lot of MMD models have different styles of bones and physics so you might not be able to use the same motion data for all of them.

LillyTank he uses SFM
Read over the replies more thoroughly. You'll find that we had been discussing him considering using MMD for future commissions as per my request.
Can I just ask for some spoiler tags on some of these since they are so long.
Sorry, I condensed my long-winded confession, lol.
