So what's the deal with Evil Aqua? I know nothing about KH but people more on the negative side of this?

Aqua is basically a heart of light, and to see her corrupted just pisses people off. She's basically the least likely to fall.
Also the white hair/yellow eyes is a trademark of an old guy when he possesses people.
So basically, from what it seems, she possibly won the worst lottery in kh.
that's just to my understanding though

Aqua is one of the three main characters (Terra and Ven are the other two) in the prequel game when Sora and Riku were like 4 years old. In the final battle the villain corrupts Terra and steals his body, Ven's heart is taken out of his body and he is turned into a puppet and Aqua (after sealing Ven away in a place only she can reach) is trapped in the "realm of darkness" (hell, filled with demons) with the knowledge of her failure.

After 10-15 years of existing in hell she is seeing hallucinations of the others and is reminded of her failing. She's tired. She wants to stop fighting. Then she finds King Mickey and the two journey to find the keyblade in the realm of darkness (this is happening during the ending of KH1). But after a massive boss battle she is separated from him. This is the last we see her.

This week a trailer for 3 (2 canon years after we last saw her) shows her with yellow eyes telling Mickey he is too late. She is either possessed by the badguy like Terra or has succumb to the darkness and become evil.

Or it's yet another of the many illusions of that place. It's one of those places...

...Seriously, there's like zero-chance she's possessed by Xehanort. Apparently people have forgotten what those with a piece of Xehanort's heart look like. Aqua only has yellow irises as all users of darkness have. She doesn't have any of the other markers of Xehanort's hosts like his trademark pointy ears.

Furthermore, if you really want more proof of the contrary, read Nomura's latest interview with Game Informer where he describes Aqua's appearance as a result of succumbing to the World of Darkness due to being in there for too long.

Tl;dr she's not a host. If you stay in the World of Darkness too long, you unsurprisingly get corrupted by darkness. Like, it doesn't matter how pure or whatever you are, eventually, you'll be tainted. It's why DiZ knew he had to get out of there when he got banished there.
