Hypnohub OCs game development thread
Yello all
So... as shown in the "Ideas/for fun: MTG/Balatro/Roguelite RPG if it were Hypno!" forum topic (hypnohub.net/index.php?page=forum&s=view&id=106863) I believe there is some potential interest by some of us for making games based on our kinks that COULD, potentially, involve OCs of the authors of the hub, either as dom, subs, switch and everything in between (another switch?).

Creating a small topic where people can leave their permissions, requests, and suggestions for their OCs would be beneficial for anyone about to start developing their game, so... here we are.
As a little form, I think these questions to answer should prove beneficial:
- Author's name:
- OC\s name\s:
- Role wanted: (Dom\Sub\Switch\You choose)
- Specific image you want to be used: (Can be left blank)
- Permission to redraw the OCs: Yes\No
- Specific no-nos to be aware: Yes(which ones)\No
- Can be included in a "commercial" project (either sold or to get donations via Patreon\Ko-fi\Etc.): Yes\No
- Wants not to be credited (I personally do by default, but maybe some don't want it): Yes\no

Also, since my jam is, well, AI, I think it's important to add:
- Can be included in AI-assisted/generated projects? Yes\No
- If yes to the previous, can it be redrawn by the AI itself? Yes\No
- If no, and the creator doesn't want to use non-ai tools, link a specific image to use (or multiple of them, to help the author better choose one that fits the theme of the game):

What do you guys think? I'm currently working to see if a potential reconstruction of King of Tokyo|New York could fit a Hypnohub game, and, ofc, I plan to insert my own OCs if it's viable; the project would be with AI content, but also some "manual drawn" stuff I have my inbox (bought some card frames files in the past for my DnD games, might as well reuse those with some touchups). Interested?

By the way, this topic can also be used as a way to show potential projects going on, so authors can decide which creators can have permission to use their OCs, so... don't be shy :P

I think it's important to offer the flexibility in both directions around AI work these days. We should offer A) opt-INS, and not OUTs, for artists' work, and B) we may want to have an option for AI-free content for players. That said, that might get tricky to develop, so perhaps the point is simply to ensure artists are opted in, and credited - then, any piece of art can have it's creator and methodology listed.

Ofc, my first part was more meant as a way "I'm developing this, if anyone wants to be in, feel free to opt in", I would never go and grab some OCs of others without asking explicit permission first: if I want to use X from Y, I go to Y and ask if I can use X, simple as.

At the same time, the second part was more like, example, "If someone gives permission for, say, Regulus (my OC) to be used for projects, here's a list of things to know on how and when you can use it (for example, Regulus and Dollmundus are strict Doms, so I do not wish to see them in any sub roles; or I do not want them to be "The good guys", anti-hero at best, etc.)"
And since I know AI is a big nono for many, I also pushed that aspect to be seen to avoid someone forgetting this crucial point.

Regarding the AI-free content... I mean, if some developers want to, it's their choice, no? By my side, I'm not going to do anything not-AI-assisted, but if someone wants, say, to pick my rulesets and do an "expansion" or a "remastered" version of my game that does not involve any AI-content... I mean, the original author can say yes or no without any issues, I'd say? Just like if they want to make two versions of the game, AI and non-AI.

As a final note, of course, I believe any artists who permit their OCs to be used, even when redrawn by someone or an AI, SHOULD be given proper credits at the end of the game somewhere (or maybe on the cards, Board, or Developer's choice, I'd say).

P.S: We should also consider a separate topic as a "board" for developers to show their work, both in development and the finished product, so more people can opt-in and\or give feedback, playtesting, heck even more direct help like extra development, etc.

For sure! And hey no offense intended. I didn't think you were going to forge ahead with it all without permission, but it's definitely worth saying in the thread early enough so others can chip in as well.

Hmm, you know what I'll go on a limb and give you permission to use my OCs if you wish it.

Author's name: fwuffycocoa
- OC's names: Athena Lancaster
- Role wanted: Sub
- Specific image you want to be used: None, although for reference, use these: hypnohub.net/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=216041 hypnohub.net/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=210499 hypnohub.net/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=240176
- Permission to redraw the OCs: Yes
- Specific no-nos to be aware: No explicit content please
- Can be included in a "commercial" project (either sold or to get donations via Patreon\Ko-fi\Etc.): Yes
- Wants not to be credited: Wants to be credited

- Can be included in AI-assisted/generated projects? Yes
- If yes to the previous, can it be redrawn by the AI itself? Yes, although I do prefer non-AI
- If no, and the creator doesn't want to use non-ai tools, link a specific image to use (or multiple of them, to help the author better choose one that fits the theme of the game): N/A, see above links

To be honest, I do have more characters that would fit the hypno theme, but for now this will do

Nice, thank you! I really appreciate that. Hopefully when something solid forms we can show you what's going on, I'm still keen to do this!! :D

I've wanted to make a comic about Hypnohub forever, but a visual novel is also on the table if I can find some extra programming talent. Maybe an RPG Maker VX Ace game. Why has Hypnohub never had a game jam? I know there are plenty of programmers here.

I remember floating the idea of a game jam ages ago. And while it would be a fun chance to try some game ideas I've got don't think I'd have the time to do anything for it for a while.

And if you want to make a VN ever looked into Ren'Py or the like?
