Alice did not regret her choices in life or love. Her husband was eccentric but kind, and they both loved the jungle they had called home. Sadly, it had not loved them back. As her life ended, the feeling that permeated her soul was fear for her infant son all alone in that dangerous place. Fortunately, fate would have another twist waiting for her.
In courting Alice, her husband John had gifted her a green emerald from a temple deep within same jungle they would eventually call home. A temple devoted to a Goddess of love, fertility, and sex no less... Not that John had thought to mention that to Alice, whom had worn it for years in the prim and proper social circles of Victorian England for years. Years later, as John & Alice prepared to leave England as newlyweds, Alice had left the pendant with her own mother as a promise they would return to visit.
That same gem had been passed into the hands of Lady Waltham in her investigations about the history of the "Savage" white man of the jungle. A connection of deep, unbreakable love summoned Alice from her rest, and within moments through Lady Waltham's mind, the former Lady Greystroke knew of her son's fate.
Of the stories told in his new name. Of the heroic deeds he accomplished to protect his home and family. Of the woman whom had helped remind him of humanity.
Alice longed for the chance to thank her.
