The next story arc won't immediately follow up on this little cliffhanger, instead it's going to be some more office workplace shenanigans with Wendy and Evan. It will also lead up to the same cliffhanger, from Wendy's perspective.

I'm thinking it might be funny to then stick with Wendy's POV while she misses out on the entire resolution to this conflict, so she gets to see the end result and be confused about what she missed. Then have the final story arc go back, and fill in what happened to get to that point. I'm thinking it might be fun to have some dramatic irony by showing the resolution early, so you as the reader will know where the story's headed before the characters do. But that's not guaranteed, it's just an idea I'm considering.

Oooh, I was wondering why we were focusing so much on just these three (now one) aliens... Can't wait to see what you come up with next, Thalarynth~

I'm not sure about revealing the conclusion before explained what happened. It would destroy any dramatic tension for the end of this long-running plot.

@tvattcerebr Perhaps it would deflate the tension, but that's not necessarily a problem. 'Tense' isn't really what I'm going for, I prefer to keep the vibe fairly lighthearted. Revealing the ending early, then going back to lead up to it, could swap out tension for *anticipation* instead. That does sound appealing to me, but I'm not decided yet.

@tvattcerebr Don't you know one of the unspoken rules of storytelling? If a character goes out of their way to tell you how something is going to go down, that means it absolutely is not going to go down that way, otherwise they would have just shown it.

Something is going to go wrong, especially after Spiricca (Spirit Becca) said 'everything's rigged in my favor'

Final story arc? Of the aliens or the whole series?

@Maninthemask I'd call it something like a 'soft ending' for the whole series. An end point after which no more content is guaranteed, but I'll probably still make extra epilogues with these characters indefinitely afterwards. The main thing is, no more long-running storylines after that point. The story will stay 'ended' even if I make more tidbits after, if you know what I mean.

As for my next big project after that point, I haven't decided yet. I might start something new, completely from scratch, or I might do a sequel series or spinoff, something connected while still being separate.
