Melon here's a new OC of mine, and she's a bit skeptical about this whole "hypnosis" deal her human friend is telling her about. Looks like she needed a little demonstration!~

Can't spell "demonstrate" without "monstr"!~

Hope you all enjoy!~

heheh, i like her naming convention in her culture, it reminds me of the same culture from trolls in runescape... they are named after the first thing they try to eat, so you can guess how that goes XD

Cool! Her people don't always name after foods, but they DO really like naming after early experiences in life.

Harpies are natural fly-by-grabbers, it's literally an instinct for them to swoop down and grab things, and while most harpy kids just use it for typical games, (such as repeatedly dropping a ball and having another catch it before it hits the ground) some tend to pick up strange habits for various reasons.

Melon here was fond of stealing melons from humans during harpy raids. It's not uncommon for harpy kids to steal random small things while their aunts, mothers, and older sisters are grabbing mates, but Melon here would ONLY grab Melons, leading to her name.

She wears it with pride, but mostly because of how early she got it. Adult names are a symbol of a strong personality, so to have one so young in life is something to take pride in in her culture.

...her human friends like it because her feathers look kinda like melon colors. She genuinely hadn't realized this prior to a human mentioning it.

Her full name is Fyyranubei, but her harpy friends call her Nubei, which also just means "Melon." "Fyyra" just means "to hunt" or "hunter of" and is EXTREMELY common at the beginning of harpy names.

Also there's not really any good way to write it with latin script but their language is tonal, with 3 tones and each vowel sound having a tone. Fyy-ra-nu-be-i is sung mid-down-mid-up-down intonation. The specific notes aren't as important as their relative position, but most harpies go for F4, G4, and A4 for the down, mid, and up tones respectively.

I love that for a porn website we have creators like sobergin here that just created an entire naming culture, lore for a random character and a language for a fictional harpy used for a classic hypnosis isnt real *immediately gets hypnotized* post

Hey a girl's gotta use her years of studying linguistics for SOMETHING.

Besides, this isn't even a real conlang- I've not even made up any grammar or conjugations yet! ;)
