Fun fact. The cordyceps fungus doesnt hijack the mind of the Ant. It hijacks the Ants exoskeleton. The ant is probably fully conscious and aware for a given definition of such while its being controlled. Until it eventually dies.

Fun fact fact: I don't recall if it's the cordyceps or another fungus, but following the fact of controlling an ant's exoskeleton, the fungus will literally create its own form of muscle cells around the muscles of the insect, while breaking down the original muscle cells. So it can quite literally form new muscles that are under its control.
