it technically did, but it wasn't portrayed this way. The sleeping village had the townsfolk brainwashed but it wasn't really worth writing home about.

I forgot about that, but, yeh, it was also a bit more horrifying at least in the original ps1 version, i think ps4 version missed the mark a fair bit.
