A Japanese fashion trend and a substyle of gyaru.
One of the original styles of gyaru, ganguro went out of fashion after the early 2000s, and is rarely worn today.
On this site, it is used as a group term for the many extreme forms of gyaru that claim descent from it, in addition to the original look. This is to differentiate them from milder styles of gyaru for tag search purposes - no such group term exists in the real world.
The original style was meant to stand out from the local beauty standard as much as possible. It featured bronzy tan_skin, heavy makeup such as black eyeliner and white eyeshadow, and bleached blonde_hair. Clothing and accessory choices might involve bright outfits, garish jewelry and platform shoes.
