The subject is resisting or protesting the hypnosis/mind control, however, they're not putting a real or serious effort into it and they don't seem frightened or distressed. As it is noticeable that, in reality, they are okay with or even want to be hypnotized. Scenarios such as someone adverting their eyes from something hypnotic but chuckling and not running away, a consensual sub/dom dynamic where the former is playing hard to get and the latter is being a tease, someone not wanting to admit they want to be hypnotized, etc.
This tag naturally implies resisting, and in most cases, it will also be an example of weak_resistance. However, if the attempt to resist is weak, but it's not from a lack of real effort, and the subject does genuinely want to avoid being controlled (or there are no signs to the contrary), then it's not halfhearted.
