What effect? All he's done is give them wildly inaccurate color schemes that make them nearly unidentifiable as the characters they're intended to be.

man i could not disagree more. i mean, maybe this is just me but i think the character designs do enough to make them distinguishable from one another. additionally, i think the coloring is cute and fun

Don't care for the color job myself. If anything it's kind of surprising to me, this guy's sketch work is so great, that this really weak coloring job stands out by comparison. I immediately assumed that the coloring must have been done by someone else upon looking at these.
