Well, to avoid the idea totally turning to nothing. (Because at the point where the guy gets also hypnotized it is basically the same as before with a slightly different start.) How about this hypothetical guy who joins the club because he genuinely wants to cosplay is utterly immune (Or at least very resistant) to any attempts at hypnosis for some reason. Maybe he is appalled at what they are doing, not because they are turning people into horny sex toys. Instead he is just angry that they barely do any real cosplaying or join conventions and shit. Then tries to get them to actually take cosplaying serious....
That actually sounds like a pretty interesting idea.
