So this picture was part of a YCH auction that I put my lioness into. Concept of the picture is that Apep the Egyptian god of chaos has awoken and is up to naughty stuff.

Also I wrote a short story about it: www.furaffinity.net/view/25275663/

Crimson and gold. Burning. Gleaming. Searing all around her. Figures splayed on golden coils and oaken walls, burning with crimson and gold. Their whispers chanting something…

Kyla blinked. The cold morning air brushed across her muzzle. Cold? The lioness sat up and swiveled her head to side to side. Blue walls, a desk with a computer plus tablet, and an empty spot on her twin bed. She had been dreaming. With a sigh, the feline turned to look at the time.

A crimson light met her vision instead.

Kyla flinched before cursing to herself internally. It was just her old digital display clock. 8:52 AM it read. With a shake of her head, the feline tossed the covers off her pajamas and made her way to the bathroom. Annoyedly glaring at the mirror, the lioness readied a toothbrush and proceeded to scrub her fangs with foamy toothpaste. In the mirror, she could see the distant crimson glimmer of her clock. Partially out of annoyance and partially out of fascination, Kyla’s eyes never left that red glint as the images from her dream flicked across the edge of her consciousness. Strange, it usually only took a few minutes for her to forget dreams. Shrugging to herself, Kyla finished her brush with a gargle and went back into her room to get changed.

Instinctively, the feline’s eyes went to her clock again, but to her surprise she found that it was blinking. 12:00 AM it read. Had there been a power surge while she’d been washing up? But then how had…A flash of crimson light popped through Kyla’s mind, she quickly brushed it off with a shudder. She needed to stop thinking so much about that damned dream. The lioness stripped out of her pajamas and tossed them over the blinking clock. Donning a t-shirt, shorts, and of course underwear, Kyla made her way downstairs for breakfast.

As usual during breakfast time, Kyla flicked the TV onto a random channel, letting the white noise behind her drown out the rest of the world as she made her meal. She was cooking pancake batter when she noticed something. She couldn’t quite make it out beyond the sizzling of the batter, but there was something familiar coming from the TV. A rerun of something maybe? No not quite, it was repetitive, monotonous, like a chant.

The lioness tweaked her round ears to try and decipher the noise. Then, she felt her muzzle slowly mouthing a word, a name. Another flash of crimson crossed Kyla’s mind. With a small start, Kyla spun to face the TV. With wide eyes, the feline carefully studied whatever program was on. It was new to her, in fact it was news. Some report talking about a pep rally at some school. Heart still racing, Kyla turned back to her breakfast. The pancake was starting to burn. Kyla turned off the stove and tossed the burnt pancake into the trash, she had lost her appetite anyway. Quickly grabbing her keys, the shaken lioness hurried out of her home for an impromptu trip downtown.

***
As expected on a weekend, the downtown area was bustling with activity. People of all sorts wandered through the streets for leisure, work, and the like. Kyla walked along with the foot traffic with no destination in particular. Whatever direction she saw the most people going, was the direction she followed. Being around people was what she needed, even if it was strangers. It was one of her old tactics she used for fighting nerves, if she couldn’t keep herself sane, other people would.

As Kyla trudged on, she pushed out all other thoughts from her mind, “just walk,” she kept telling herself. And so she did, walking past shops, lots, and parks until the afternoon cropped up and hunger along with it. Fortunately for her, Kyla’s nerves had calmed down quite a bit by then and she found herself willing to break at an outdoor sandwich shop in the shopping district. The lioness sat down, snacking on some bread and a cup of hot coffee as she figured her plans for the rest of the day. Idly, Kyla’s eyes passed round the shops nearby. Across from her, she noticed a jewelry store with mannequins of various species and shapes displaying a wide range of trinkets. Kyla was taking a sip of her hot coffee when she spotted a piece of jewelry that caught her eye. It was a rather thick golden collar with a red gem affixed to the front.

Another feeling of déjà vu washed over Kyla. Where had she seen that collar before? For some reason, a tree came to her mind. Four figures splayed on golden coils and oaken walls, burning with crimson and gold. Their whispers chanting a name. Just like in the morning, Kyla felt her muzzle mouthing that chant.

“Apep,” whispered a voice.

With the name came heat. Searing. Blazing. Kyla yowled and slapped a paw over her burning lips. She took a few sharp breaths in and out as she suddenly realized she had taken a splash of scalding hot coffee. Kyla blinked. Something about that bothered her. Hadn’t she been thinking about...something before that happened? The lioness searched her thoughts fruitlessly for a few moments before she shrugged off the lapse in memory and went back to planning the rest of her day.

Kyla returned to her home by sundown and without further incident. She entered the house with a smile on her muzzle, the stresses of the morning all but forgotten. Bounding her way up the stairs, the feline decided to spend the rest of her day relaxing by drawing on her computer. She booted up her computer, plugged in her tablet, and opened up a blank, brown canvas. Without any plan in mind, Kyla decided to doodle, letting her paws decide what colors and shapes to draw out. After about 20 minutes of this, the lioness sat back to see what kind of chaos she had wrought.

The canvas was now littered with a random assortment of items: faces, eyes, a tree. Kyla scanned through the images with a mixture of opinions for herself until she came to a rather odd doodle. It was a symbol she had made in red, composed of a snake head that curved down and up into four omega shapes. The lioness blinked at the symbol. No, it wasn’t a symbol, it was a name.

Kyla’s heart stopped.

In an instant, the images on the canvas twisted and warped around the name. The tree wrapped around the edges of Kyla’s vision, gnarling into a cavern of oaken veins and roots, emblazoning the name atop its trunk. The faces flushed into full figures who sprawled out across the oaken cavern and peered ahead with vacant, ruby gazes. One figure sat in stillness, another in labor, another at rest, and the final one in writhing pleasure. All were wrapped in coils of shining gold, chanting a name in a mixture of rapture and vacancy.

“Apep…Apep…Apep…”

At the center of Kyla’s vision, two blazing, crimson eyes took form.

“Apep,” she heard herself say.

With the name came heat. Searing. Blazing. Euphoric. Kyla purred as every nerve in her body tingled with fire. A trickle of juices between the feline’s legs dimly told her that she was suddenly nude. As the name burned her body, the golden serpent’s blazing eyes burned her soul. Kyla’s eyelids drooped, her jaw went slack, a trickle of drool formed along the edges of her mouth. The golden serpent’s gaze seared away all, until only one word remained.

“Apep…Apep…Apep…” Kyla chanted in unison with the others. With each utterance, she spasmed in ecstasy.
