Thought I'd share this interesting piece of concept art from the Splatoon 2 art book showing Marie looking brainwashed like Callie. Makes me wonder if they originally considered her to be the final boss instead of Callie or if she was supposed to get brainwashed too.

As I understand it, part of Splatoon 2's plot was determined by the results of the first game's last splatfest and/or poll. Marie won, so Callie disappeared shortly after, with the implication that the fans chose it. Had Callie won the splatfest, Marie would likely have been the final boss.

And it would have made such more sense for her character too, BUT YOU ALL DECIDED TO HAVE SHIT TASTE, DIDNT YOU?!

Hey if you loved her you would have fought for her like I did. I poured my soul into that battle and we won because we cared more!

I can only imagine what could've been or maybe hope Nintendo can make a free "What If" DLC update to the story mode
