the pic was fine on it's own, but I couldn't help feel it also had more potential

in response to the moderation claim of "text quality - not taking full use of your space. [meaning large blank spot on image]. "

1) the text is clearly visible, neither crunched up in a manner that makes it hard to read, nor comprising text that is small

2) if one were to divide up the image, there is a blank spot of maybe 1/8th the image, and it comes after the text - hardly a blot in the viewers eye

3) seriously, are we not just judging by grammar and image quality, but composition now? That seems needlessly rigid.... while I don't necessarily agree with the wall of text condemnation, I can see it as being somewhat equivalent of a blurry image [although again, while it might not be my cup of tea, if the words are legible, I don't see why it can't be left for others enjoyment], but what's next? image lacks proper unity of themes? image doesn't use patterns to draw the the eye to the focus?

my point being the text and image is clean, has no significant grammar errors, and manips are obviously works of hobby and fluff, not high concept or as saleable items - let's please not bog it down with more restrictions than necessary

I don't agree with flagging the image. However, I do agree with the criticism itself. It's a hobby, sure, but when you do something you should take pride in your work; if someone thinks it could look a little better and you don't disagree, does it make you less of a person to go back and make that change, then see how you feel about it?

People will judge and dislike something that's posted regardless of how good it is or what you do;(not people in general, but as in there's always someone who won't share the tastes, or will have an nitpick) that doesn't mean you shouldn't sometimes just accept a criticism.

(the following is a rant on how I perceive blank space in a manip. Read at risk of your own sanity.)I personally don't like blank space at the bottom of an obvious area set for text and text alone. I expect the space to be filled in one way or another, whether that be taking artistic license with formatting, or just making the text bigger, or using more colorful vocabulary/descriptions. Blank space on the text area of a manip is, to me, like dead air at the end of a cut of footage. Imagine you're watching a scene of a movie and it's doing shot/reverse shot, but then randomly at the end of someone's line the camera stays on them for a full extra second before cutting to the other person responding as if they never skipped a beat. The line wasn't even funny, so it wasn't apparently a scripted "beat" for comedic effect, nor a dramatic pause. It was just... blank space.

But the TEXT SIZE! WE CAN'T HAVE IT TAKE MORE THAN 40% OF THE IMAGE!!!!11!!
Format it correctly -> get deleted because text to picture ratio
Let it keep the ration to avoid "wAll oF tExT" -> gets deleted because insufficent text to picture ratio.

ok, to be fair, my rant was before the new set of rules was posted - I still disagree with the judgement and policy, but it's a difference of finding out that the image is against actual policy versus somebodies arbitrarily deciding the image isn't good enough compositionally

I still feel it should be judged on the quality of it's content, and not it's composition; that the rule goes a step too far, too soon, and is not being dealt with well, but I also realize that other than voicing my distaste for it, I need to comply with the standards and practices set

I also think that, with the rules as I read them, my piece actually falls barely into the green zone, being more like 25% blank then the 30% listed.... and if not, I can keep on trying to make a more balanced image, since other factors aren't a problem

I will also point out that the current version of windows paint, paint 3d [which is what I use because I am an amateur], has a known issue where it sometimes cuts off or shrinks text, meaning this might be a chronic problem I need to deal with anyway
