@HypnoHammer The original Fantastic Four issue that introduced the Skrulls concluded in Reed Richards hypnotizing a team of Skrull infiltrators into thinking they were cows - and yes, they shapeshifted into cows.

It's literally canon that Reed forced a group of Skrulls to take cow form and then brainwashed them to stay in that form. And then they got turned into burgers and people got superpowers from eating them.

Because Comics are fucked up sometimes.
