Why is the new favorites system so terrible???
Who thought the way the new favorites system works was a good idea? It's the most frustrating and inconvienient system ever. You'd be better off not using the system at all and just saving the images that you want to keep track of in a folder called favorites.

Can we go back to the way that 621 does it? Where you can ACTUALLY use tags to search for specific favorites as opposed to having to go through page after page searching for one favorite??

There's been some discussion about this here, including a potential solution (outside the site):forum #106072. Not as good as a favorites search on the site, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen.

It should. The fact that we need to use a fucking Github app to access a feature we used to have is asinine. What the actual fuck was Slayerduck thinking when he made the change? What change did this shitty new format make that was worth butchering the quailty of Favorites and Blacklisting functions??? Tell me, please, because I am DYING to know.

Well, for one, people can't literally crash the entire website just by typing script into the comments.

No more random people Rickrolling everyone who visits the site. We can post videos now, not just gifs. And as a frequent tagger, I appreciate that the new site shows you the number on each tag when editing, so I know whether it's "bowtie (1)" or "bow_tie (1117)".

I certainly have a lot of complaints too, but it sounds like the foundation for the old site wasn't being actively maintained/worked on (by people outside HypnoHub), so it was just a matter of when, not if, to update.

And you have it right.

The old site was pretty much held together by hope and prayer. Somethings were better on the old, but the new is far more secure and safe

So gut the site for the sake of security, and make it safer, but apparently too rigid to add the features that were lost back in. Marvelous.

Might as well just stick to R34. There's no real difference anymore anyway.

I mean, you're not wrong about that last part. That was kinda the point, since Slayerduck already runs rule34.xxx and is already familiar with that software. Though, we at least have source links in our posts.

As someone who also misses the ability to search through my Faves pretty badly myself (and for various reasons can't use the custom fixes others have suggested here and elsewhere), I do feel like a crucial bit of context here is that the site was basically on the verge of going away PERIOD; the choice was not between "upgrade now but lose certain features" or "wait it out until they figure out a way to upgrade with those features intact", it was between "upgrade now but lose certain features" or "lose the site entirely". Which, to be clear, still sucks? But even so it just feels worth pointing out as a means of keeping things In Perspective.

Of course, the other side is that there has not been the slightest indication that any work is being done to implement missing features.

Sure, but consider that it's most likely not possible for the team to just add those features to this version of the site, and the alternative would be re-building the site *again* to a version that could incorporate those features. And at that point, you do sort of have to remember this is a free-to-use fetish-porn site and, so far as I'm aware, nobody's exactly getting paid to dedicate THAT kind of time and energy to it. Again, I profoundly miss Fave Searching too, but we need to be Realistic about the situation here.

While we're grousing: the "child/parent post" designation really could use some work, and I have a concrete example.

hypnohub.net/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=194523
hypnohub.net/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=194524
(Let's call them "Image 1" and "Image 2" for clarity's sake.)

When they were first uploaded, Images 1 & 2 both showed in the Posts gallery; I tend to like my content fairly explicit, so Image 2 is something I'd favorite and pay attention to while Image 1 I'd likely just look at the thumbnail and move on.

Now I get that the images are considered "parent/child" because they're sequential, but now that they've been reclassified, the main Posts gallery has no indication that Image 2 even exists! Just Image 1, with no border or note or anything. If I hadn't already seen Image 2 (and then wondered where it went) I'd never know it was there!

Granted, both Images 1 & 2 will display if I look up a tag that applies to both, be it the content or the artist or whatever else. But as someone who browses Posts, which the top bar would seem to suggest is an intended means of browsing... it seems.. sub-optimal, let's say.

Video files here already get a blue border to set them apart, and I know of at least one other booru that uses yellow/green to indicate parent/child images. Surely this would be something helpful in the long run, no?

The guy OWNS R34 and sells merch. EXPENSIVE MERCH. I somehow doubt that money is an object. And there's always SOMEONE willing to make the changes.
