Huh. Have to say, kinda liked it more when it was suggested that the headphones just played hypnotic music, as opposed to sprouting tendrils that burrow into their victims' brains.
Still like it tho, and love this series as a whole!

Regarding the tendrils, they're actually ethereal, so they don't physically strike the brain. They do infest it, though, and take over. In another way, the tendrils do make the hypnophones difficult, if not impossible to remove.
And yes, they still do play hypnotic music, even with the tendrils at it.

Oh, well that makes it better. Think I'll stick with ignoring the mental image, though. Hypnomusic or just a light *ping* sound if enough for me.
