I'm not quite sure if this is normal Mario being transformed into a koopa, or if this is Cappy Mario possessing a koopa, who is then brainwashed. I like the latter, because koopas seem like they would be naturally obedient to Bowser, versus a human like Mario. I quite like the idea of Mario/Cappy possessing a koopa and trying to sneak into Bowser's castle, but by taking that form, they unknowingly gave themselves a major susceptibility to Bowser's mind control.
