Isn't the Holy Grail supposed to give you life, not wishes?

Well I don't know that much about fate lore. But that was the premise for all anime. Even Rin and Kotomine tell to Shiro at first that servants have a wish. So that's why they fight in the war. To get their wish granted. So going by that logic I assumed the grail is a wish maker. And even in fate apocrypha Sieg asks Irisviel "Can you not grant Shiro's wish?" And he asks her to turn him into dragon. So... Isn't it a wishmaker lol?

In Western folklore and fiction, it's supposed to heal all wounds or give eternal life. One or the other.
Or, if you're Monty Python, you don't find it at all. (Someone better start reading the book of Armaments...)
