Mario in control of Yoshi, who was disguised twice.
Incorrect. He is a Yoish in control of a clone of himself that looks like Mario with a power up that disguises there self as Peach... Funnily enough, most of those powerups only would last one hit, but cappy would make it take two hits to downgrade back to Yoish.

Actually, this whole sequence wouldn't work. Cappy can't take control of someone if they're already wearing a hat.

When Mario captures something in Odyssey, does he become the enemy itself, or is he still Mario? If the first answer, then the two possible answers are Peach or Yoshi. If the second answer, then the two possible answers are Yoshi and Mario.
Now for the actual context of the question. If the meaning of the question is "Who is it physically?" Then the answer will depend on the answer chosen in the last question. Either Peach, or Mario. But if the question is, "Who is it mentally?", then the answer will always be Yoshi, since although each power alters the appearance of Yoshi, he still is Yoshi. Note the fact that Yoshi-Mario throws the cap at Clone-Mario.
So really, depending on how you see the question, the answer can vary. I think the answer is Yoshi, but it just comes down to a matter of opinion.
Okay, so I've found this post again after scrolling through my favorites, and I have something to address. While it comes out to definitely being Peach physically, it cannot be Peach mentally, as the Super Crown only changes appearance. But one glaring flaw I assumed was right is that it was the "real" Mario who threw Cappy. It was not, it's actually the clone who thew Cappy. That means that in order to truly figure out who it is mentally, we have to decide whether the clone Mario is Yoshi or Mario.
I don't want to get into it, but I just wanted to correct my mistake"]
It cannot be anyone but yoshi, and im willing to prove it.
The mario 64 mario cap that yoshi uses only turns him phisically into mario, but he still speaks like a yoshi. This means he's stil mentally yoshi. The clone would be another yoshi transformed into mario.
The original yoshi also grabbed a super crown, which turned him into yoriette. Who subsequently got possessed by the clone yoshi.
All this to say that possessed yoriette is clone yoshi mentally. The only question is who is it phisically, which can only be answered if we know how the super crown works.
