This popped into my mind a few days ago as one of my first exposures to hypnosis and I searched it out. I don't think anyone has mentioned it before in my hypnosis experience. The Legends of Treasure Island was a British animated series in the early nineties. Essentially a cartoon serial of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, but with anthropomorphic animals as the characters.
And for a cartoon in the early nineties, it did not hold back. Talk of death, murder, ghosts and a dark story in almost every episode from what I remember. This episode is called Emily, where the two main characters (Jim Hawkins and an original 'Jane' character) stumble across hundreds of wrecked ships with ghosts and animated skeletons, along with a ghost girl called Emily. Due to a curse by Captain Flint, they are all doomed to haunt the ships, under the control of The Lightkeeper.
Here he is hypnotizing Jane to steal her soul and turn her into one of the ghosts of the ship.
Check out the Youtube source, the screams and wails of the Lightkeeper are intense even now.
If someone could help with the tags, it would be appreciated!

They had the likes of Richard E. Grant for Long John Silver, as well as Hugh Laurie voicing the Squire.
