For millennia, vampires have tormented the human race. Despite only making up 5% of the humanoid population, they have managed to keep 95% of the population in perpetual fear of their presence, and have reaped many of the benefits of human progress while doing little-to-none of the work; They have extorted their way into food, shelter, and comfort at the expense of humankind.

However, thanks to the life's work of beloved Dr. Zara Rodahl, the human race finally has an arsenal of weapons that are effective in combating the vampire menace. Vampires possess the natural ability to mesmerize humans into suggestive states by seducing them; Dr. Rodahl discovered that this power could be used against a vampire through the use of psychoactive drugs, hypnotic visuals, sensory deprivation, and participation in submissive sex acts. When all techniques are employed correctly, the end result is a vampire who is so divorced from their innate, parasitic nature that they are often mistaken for mild-mannered (if promiscuous) human beings.

Governments around the world sponsored the creation of thousands of correctional facilities, resulting in the creation of nearly a million new jobs worldwide and 97.5 million reformed vampires.
