Can someone please explain where this whole paper/ menu/ talisman trope came from? Just wondering, it took explaining for me to know what haigure was and now I’m wondering here
I assume it has something to do with Jiangshi, and certain Zombies in Asian mythology being controlled through a talisman placed on their forehead.
Also, isn't this the red heaird girl from Yuuna and the Haunted Hotsprings?

Zombies controlled through menus? Weird, thanks though. Don’t know the answer to your question though, sorry
Little edit; for those who care and in general how it goes. Using the talisman menu apparently doesn’t even hypnotize the jiangshi it just paralyzes them, so it’s not even mind control unless someone uses it for catalepsy, even then it only works on Jiangshis
