Anybody who seriously uses 'alpha' or 'beta' in a non-science sense is not to be trusted with anything. Their underlying morals and motives are suspect.

It's actually not a thing at all. The scientist who popularized the idea was talking about how wolves behaved in captivity, but years later, after even more research, realized that even wolves didn't behave the way he thought in that earlier report.

I don't know who popularized the idea, but the animal kingdom is rife with alpha and beta males. Silverback gorillas and shit. It's likely analogous in human interaction.

Pretty sure it's best not to overthink it ;)

As for the brainwaves statement, those are just states of mind. I feel like submissive states of mind probably have different types of brainwaves but I haven't looked it up recently.
