So Kasumi died pushing Sumire out of the way to avoid being hit by a car. Sumire couldn't live with the guilt of being indirectly responsible, was forced to go to therapy to see Dr. Maruki who used his powers to essentially brainwash Sumire into believing she was Kasumi like she wished to be. We spent the better half of a year with a girl who didn't even know who she was pretending to be up til the 3rd semester and the Heist of the final palace...
