Ugh, I wish Coco wasn't graduating so soon.
The politics of all this related to her being removed is probably the saddest part. Really the fact that politics played a part in it to remove her for saying something that should be uncontroversial is basically the greatest shame.
The way that the fan base calls it "graduated" and not "Fired" is really annoying, since it makes it all cutesy. The person was forced to step down from doing this, plain and simple.

That's your opinion and you're allowed to have it, but I think, as with most things, there's more to it than that.

It's a reference to a meme-format cartoon by The Onion's most popular Political cartoonist - in particular, the cartoonist-in-the-lower-right-with-a-pun bit is kinda his signature.

That's your opinion and you're allowed to have it, but I think, as with most things, there's more to it than that.
Less an opinion and more of a double inaccuracy.
The term "Graduate" in this context is not some kind of "fandom invention" nor is it even remotely exclusive to Hololive.
"Graduating" or "sotsugyou" has for a VERY long time been a generalized term that literally means "growing out from" or "moving on from".
It's used in workplaces, clubs and social groups all over Japan.
And on top of that, she wasn't even fired. Coco chose to leave on her own, and was her own decision.
She did it because she literally can no longer deal with the pressure of being harassed constantly by the CCP.
She left for her own emotional well-being.
Now, don't get me wrong I DO heap a lot of blame on Cover (the Hololive company) for NOT supporting her months ago when she needed it, and failing to have any acceptable measures in place for assisting against the harassment she kept receiving and I think they also are at fault for bowing to the CCP's bullying tactic and folding to them just to try and save face and putting their own reputation above Coco's well being.
Once they gave into them, the CCP knew from this point on that their bullying achieved what they wanted, and they're going to keep doing it, now that they're like sharks that got a taste for blood.
But people seem to be seeing this solely as a matter of her being "forced out", "fired" or "expelled for being controversial to a certain group of outdated, ridiculous fascists."
But while those were contributing factors TO the drama, it's NOT entirely why she's leaving, now.
It's as simple as the fact that she's being harassed, and she's going to continue to be harassed as long as she stays and it's taking a mental toll on her.
She broke down crying about it in an earlier stream, so I think the fact that it's deeply hurting her is clearly the issue right now.
It's obvious that it's the bullying itself, not the specific politics OF the bullying that is why she chose to leave, now. Being part of Hololive right now and trying to put on a brave face is hurting her as long as fascist communists keep coming to her stream to harass her for saying Taiwan existed.
If Hololive EVER was going to 'fire" her over this, they would have done so when they "suspended" her, (which was also an awful call, to be honest.) But all of the "would have's" and "should have's" of how Cover SHOULD have handled this better have come and gone. And what's left is the effects of the abuse she's been dealing with.
The important thing, I believe, is her own health and emotional well-being, not the politics that got us here.
So I support her choice to graduate, because I want Coco to take care of herself and feel better and feel safer and not to have all this stress in her life that she doesn't deserve.
She did not deserve this harassment, or the hurt she's had to endure. And I understand how she just wants it to stop.
The "sotsugyou" in this case can just as easily be apt in describing how she no longer wants to be a part of it and would like to move on, away from it.
