Surgically replaced. Decraniated have most of their head replaced from the lips up with a cybernetic brain and sensors, making them living droids.
I'm not even going to get into the prototype, who mentally got it better but physically got it MUCH worse.

I'm starting to not like the design of this. I hope this doesn't happen to any clone's/female clones or Sabine. This is actually the worst thing you could do to someone in Star Wars. Worse than blowing up their own planet.

Technically, for Rogue One they only showed up in supplementary materials. Their first (and to my knowledge only) on-screen appearance is in Solo.
