Aw, you didn't have to do it for me. I was just bummed to see another artist start to pollute his art with that distracting watermark. But it's awesome that you shared it with us. :)

You know as an artist myself I agree with mindwipe over how dA watermarks are the bane of art. Not only does it really ruin an image for everyone, which is the opposite of what an artist should want to do to his work, but it also has a really bad stigma to it which makes people view the artist a lot more negatively. Instead, just put your alias or dA on the bottom corners of the image at about 50% opacity and have it saved separately so you can copypasta it any time. That way people know who drew it and it doesnt ruin the image.

You're too good to us, hypnogoat. <3
I'd do what Zko suggested, though, if you want some sort of watermark. It's the best of both worlds.

Yeah. Nowadays pretty much every image on the (english speaking) web is indexed by google, so the artist logo/signature can be placed somewhere where it might get cropped out, but you can still do a reverse image search and see if anyone's using your art without proper attribution.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Creative Commons licensing, as it provides a legal framework for what we do, and we can't get in trouble with the DMCA as long as we follow a simple, human readable license.

I'm sure we all don't care much about the "peril" of corporate art and don't feel bad about downloading major studio's movies etc, and we all want to contribute to a vibrant art community and give credit where it's due. Creative commons allows us to legally use other peoples stuff in a much broader sense than fair use, and prevents copyfraudsters from suing people who have a right to use CC licensed media.

I've homely never had a problem with watermarks so I can real understand what the big deal is that artist wanto make sure that people know who made the image.
