Funny - in the comic that she first appeared, her daughter, Blueshift, said that she herself hates tentacles. Guess Smasher has a different taste, especially now.

Sorry for a late reply.

It is a sign of her corruption. I always liked the idea of supernatural abilities slightly changing after the user goes through mind control.
