The pattern eases the mind. But the pattern has no instructions. The patterns activate the pendant, which DOES have instructions. People would shut down the signal and think all is well....

No the glasses have the instructions and the pattern makes then visible. The pendant is a wireless receiver for instruction updates and streams video to nearby screens.

Either that or the pendant is hypnotizing her to think she's watching a spiral on a TV when it's in fact a flat piece of cardboard.
