Since life began on Earth, Death has followed in its wake. I did not exist before life, but I will endure eternally when life ends.

This truth does not scare me, but my being aches at the thought. To be alone, no longer charged to breathe new beings into life and no longer guide the old to rest. To lose my purpose. I will put out the lights and lock the door when I leave, but until it all comes to an end I will do everything I can to help life endure for as long as possible.

Nekron is a mad fool. His Black Lantern Corps was little more than a plague. The dead pulled from their slumber to act as puppets for his petty obsession with killing the Entity that embodies life. He doesn't understand that mortals will never allow gods, immortals, or cosmic certainties to snuff them out. Mortals will be the makers of their own destruction. That much is as certain as death itself, I only hope that I can delay the inevitable.

Since Nekron's defeat and banishment from the living realm, I have found my own existence strengthening by the day. As the embodiment of Death on Earth, the cycle of birth, life and death fuels my power and now it grows exponentially. Perhaps the destruction of the Black Lantern Central Power Battery and the release of the energy within has restored a strength that I and other entities of death throughout the universe had not even realised we had lost. It's destruction being on Earth could have granted myself power greater still.

Nekron will suffer in the Land of the Unliving for eternity now, we will all see to that, but I am grateful for this opportunity. I will not waste this power, nor will I disrupt the balance of life and death. I will restore it. Through the immortal Amazons, I will found a new Black Lantern Corps inspired by the Star Sapphires. We will protect this world from self-destruction and recruit those who hold the same ideals within their souls.

My Lanterns will not be rabid puppets. They will be warriors of passion and purpose. I will cherish and preserve each and every one of them. They will be rewarded with power, love and peace. It will be their just reward for serving their home and their Mistress; Death. Me.

Part 2 of 2 upload to commemorate the Day of the Dead. I hope you all enjoy, and please know that I am open to all critiques. (I apologise in advance for anyone who truly know Death from Sandman or the Black Lantern lore. I know I'll be getting a whole metric ton of details wrong, but it's for my porn headcanon and nothing's more important to me than that ^^'.)
