Well, I pictured it would be something like this:
1) The dom and sub get married.
2) They spend some time but get divorced at some point. They thought it was a mutual agreement at that time.
3) He gets married for a second time
4) The dom eventually realizes she did want him but it's too late at this point; he thinks she's just being nostalgic.

He devoiced her before she became a hypnotist.
Another possibility is she original devoiced him because he didn't want kids and she needed him to allow himself to be hypnotized.
Or as Hinzel said she regrets getting the devoice and now wants him back
