Ha, I get it. Cuz the fact they get possessed canoncally by wolf spirit. Well techinally only Reimu is canoncally the wolf, Marisa gets the Eagl e and Youmu gets the otter, but you can play as any combo. Anyway, back on track nice transformation.

Then they fight Yachie Kicchou who has the canon ability to "Make people lose the will to fight" Which could easily be used in hypnosis. And then there's Mayumi Joutougouu who has the canon ability to "Directly turning her loyalty into strength" which when combined with hypnosis seems like a deadly combo and then there's Keiki Haniyasushin who threatens to turn the main characters into idols, which considering that Mayumi is an Hawnia IDOL could be easily assumed that she was planning on conscriping them or transforming them into stautes. (God all this is doing is reminding me how much I want to commission more art of Touhou characters.)
Oh yeah and in the very next game there's a character with mind controlling smoke. ( That being Sannyo Komakusa)
Oh trust me, there is plenty of potential for hypno shenanigans in Touhou from all over. If we count the Windows era as the start of the series, Sakuya has no memories of anything other than being a maid for Remilia, who has the ability to alter fate and is a vampire, who often have hypnosis powers. Oh, and Patchy can do some sort of hypno/lust magic, but the new characters are much more direct.

True, a lot of Touhous do have capiabilties for hypnosis. Honestly it's a lot of fun to think about them in just that context! Combining a series I greatly adore with hypnosis is funnn (though if I didn't enjoy the characters so much without that I wouldn't be interested in lewding them.)
