The first Pon page is here! This was an idea I had to let Pon have a strip of her own to show her adventures at the end of each chapter as a bonus page. Chapter 2 will also have a page added retroactivly as well so look forword to it!
And as always here is the time for me to point out some things that are probably 100% obvious:
- Pon's Tutorial is named "Tutorial Book for a Dummy Summoner" which is adorable
- R'hyll Slime does not only have a different colour (as Pon already pointed out) but is generally built different than Slimes from Chapter 1. He is bigger, his eyes are drawn differently (both when he is chilling and when he is being an eldritch abomination) and from the very beginning shows to be able to form distinct limbs, which no other Slime could do at this point
- R'hyll generates visible glitches. His "Slime" noise is glitching, he overrides the system message (from "Congratulations! You caught a Slime" to "Congrats! You'r caught by a Slime) and the game cannot actually scan his lvl
- Pon is actually being petted while she is brainwashed
- We can see her Mark being pretty much burned on her body on the third panel.
- R'hyll Slime posseses Tutorial NPC from Chapter 1, which sort-of proves a theory from a year ago.
- After Pon gets enslaved we can see more red elements on her outfit that were not present on the first and second panel
Now, theory time (although it feels really cheap and egoistical making theories about my own character but whatever). Or rather Theories Time, since I have a few guesses:
1. R'hyll Slime is...just R'hyll. In contrast to the likes of Viltai, Aurora and Gemna, R'hyll is an god-essence inhabiting a mask, so it is not like he can wear VR on his face. So he probably put himself inside the game using some random magic bullshit, which is why he is so unique.
2. R'hyll Slime is a glitch. A game as big as HAO is bound to have a few of those, after all. Maybe this slime was formed from corrupted code or maybe it is an abandoned foe that was not properly cut from the game. It would explain all the malfunctions around him and why game cannot read his level, since he isn't supposed to be a part of this game.
3. We are seeing the beggining of HAO's version of the Corrupted Blood Incident. For those who don't know, it was a pretty big deal in World of Warcraft, in which a highly contagious debuff spell called "Corrupted Blood" was implemented. This virus was supposed to work only on one, high-level area, but due to an oversight that allowed pets and minions to take the affliction out of its intended confines, it soon spread all over the virtual world. It did immerse amount of damage to the lower lvl players and was generally a big (yet interesting) catastrophe. Maybe something similar is happening here - with R'hyll Slime being a creature from a high-level area, that due to an oversight found its way to the Tutorial Grounds. And since at this stage there are no players with high enough level to resist R'hyll, this Slime will do a gigantic amount of trouble, spreading its influence like a virus.
4. I am overthinking and its just Pon being creative and creepy with her wonderful art.
Gonna be honest, I can't wait to see where Pon's subplot is going. Hopefully somewhere dark.

I really, really like that Corrupted Blood Theory. Especially since this Slime perfectly positioned itself to be a main threat to the game. The game itself cannot really seem to handle this Slime, so maybe it could even send enslaved players into the cities to take them over? City's Hypno Defences probably wouldn't be able to erase Slime's mark since it is a rogue element that system doesn't recognise.
However I hope that is not the case. I feel like we should first get to know HAO better before we introduce such a big event. Maybe this Slime will just be a minor villain in the background, that will get more to do in the future HAO-related content.

And to be honest, whether or not I am write in this case or not doesn't really matter. I don't believe those theories myself, it is just me making up random bullshit. I don't know where the story will go - as far as I can tell it may just be a simple side-story and something similar will be given to other secondary characters like Allison. Or maybe we see the establishment of a group of villains that will later oppose the main heroines? Or maybe I should stop drinking before writing?
Viltai and Pon really made something great here. A bit of overanalyzying from me, you or any other user is the least we can do in return for such a wonderful content.
