Awesome stuff. I think this art conveys the feeling of being comforted in times like that very powerfully.

Having the dominant be this, comforting cycloptic gaze, and especially this panel in particular, reminded me of the Burn Pygmalion album cover; the album happens to be also about overcoming abuse once in a new relationship. I'd be interested to hear if this was consciously inspired by that or not.

From Yo: Thank you so much! <з
I see the resemblance with the Burn Pygmalion album cover, but I’ve never heard of it before!! I’ll definitely have a listen!
I can only guess that I’m not the only one that feels comforted by a gentle cycloptic gaze, maybe it has something to do with the whole Illuminati and ‘big brother is watching you’ iconography and it’s semiotics (:
The idea of having someone immensely powerful and inhuman watching over you is definitely one of my inspirations iykwim (;

You just know things are bad when the eldritch horror takes pity and comforts you in a time of need.

I want to thank you for referencing this in even just an off-handed manor. I had never heard of it before and gave the album a listen. I was almost brought to tears three separate times! I appreciate your mentioning it more than I can express in words.

You'd better not be lying. I won't be happy till I see him broken or dead. Words are cheap, as is hypnotism on this.

That's super cool!! Liz's other work is good too; I actually prefer their April Fools album, but their voice is really sweet in Burn Pygmalion which makes it fun to voice train on :)

I always feel super bad about making "oooo your art is like THIS ART!!" comparisons, but here it was just really captivating that two separate people with similar experiences would divine the same metaphor in their art. IMO it makes the symbolism feel even more powerful, like it's hitting at some "hidden truth" or greater consensus about how this feels.
