If you go into the pause menu and leave it there for a minute, you might forget exactly where you left off and be able to pretend you lost time to a trance? Works for me at least. ;)

You mean in battle, right? Because you can definitely be hit with a wild pokémon's hypnosis out of battle, which makes you drowsy.
