Seems pretty broken to me. Even with just 5 articles of clothing removed, a Barbarian with Unarmored Defense could with a shield go up from 18 to 23 AC at level 1. If then raging and fully naked, the Barbarian would have resistance and the enemies would have disadvantage. Especially the Bear Totem Warrior could really abuse this. Though, I guess Saving Throws could still stop them.

Pretty hot, though.

The key to balancing this is to do two things: One is to lower the "wearer's" Wisdom for the duration of the spell; and the second is for the illusion to be unbreakable for them. The effect ends when they "remove" the perceived armor. Whether they realize the truth after would be up to the caster. Another balancing option would be to max out the bonus received from the articles removed to half the maximum spell level of the caster, round up.

Truly a must have spell for any mind controller looking to maximize the potential of allies, guards, and thralls.
