The black lanterns are one of the eight? 10? 12 lantern corps and are the users of the black light of death. Originally the personification that granted the Black Lanterns power was the embodiment of death and entropy, Necron, but after the Blackest Night saga, he was ousted and a less extreme personification took over the corps. The primary means of "joining" the black lanterns... is that you're dead.

Something about that always bothered me. If I recall my DC lore correctly. Isnt Death a character in DC? Like a super nice and chill goth chick? So I dont understand why the Black Lanterns were ever you know. . . evil dicks

I think the Death chick you're thinking of is either from Sandman (Neil Gaiman's comics) or Thanos' crush (Marvel comics). I don't know if Gaiman ever had crossover with DC characters but I don't think either of those two had any effect or appearances on the main DC continuity.

There are multiple deaths in DC. Death of the Endless (from Sandman) is in fact one of them (though Gaiman himself has said that he considers that version of Death to be the definitive version, not just "an aspect," but...a lot of writers don't exactly agree). The death that was the Entity for the Black Lantern Corps was Nekron. If Death of the Endless is death as your friend or as peace, and the Black Racer is Death as an inevitability, Nekron is Death as your opponent. Think Nerull from D&D: He actively *wants* everything to die, because then he wins.

As for the nice and chill goth chick, that'd be Death of the Endless. (Not as in being the grim reaper for the Endless, but as in being of the group of beings called "The Endless")

I am very surprised that this pic was not already on the hub... I mean, this is literally the pic that inspired my pics with Death of The Endless start her Black Lantern Corps with Donna Troy. The intent is to work our way here.

I was honestly thinking this reminded my of Solddate's earlier pics as soon as I saw it. I can totally understand seeing this and wanting to give context to it, and making them Sandman Death's lanterns was inspired, really. I hope we get more in this impromptu series.
