Now here's an oldie. In this episode of Miss Machiko, Yamagata-sensei attempts to win Machiko with hypnosis, but something goes wrong. Machiko wakes up thinking she's a man, making her violent and loud. It also causes hilarious moments like Machiko going into the men's restroom, only to come running out shouting that she "dropped her penis."

In case you're wondering, she's eventually woken up when her uncle throws cold water on her after she chases Yamagata from house after a poorly thought out love confession.

I think a good adaptation for the subtitles could be done by having Yamagata talking to himself: "No, you can't do this! You are a gentleman!"

@Waldo You know, it didn't even occur to me until I read your comment WHY Machiko believed she was a man. I think you're probably right that that was more the direction the language was going. Translation is such tricky thing sometimes.

@Mindwipe, yeah. It might have to do with the fact that personal pronouns are often omitted in Japanese, if I'm not mistaken, so he didn't say "I" in that sentence. I don't know enough to know what he said exactly, though, but that's my guess.
