I think it might be something about how genitalia are ugly, theres also the school of thought where less is more when it comes to exposure of the body. There is also the idea of bare minimum censorship, Of course these are just guesses.

@lickitup it's for protection against chafing, since the nipples especially rub against shirts and bras during exercise.

@sublimeslimetime You're overthinking it. It's just a way of censoring the image to comply with Japanese decency laws that looks slightly better than a mosaic or black lines.
