Honestly, as much of a mary sue Rey is, she at least did the hand jester for the mind trick, unlike in Force Awakens...
It's been years since I saw TFA, and I hate to defend it, but weren't Rey's hands tied or strapped? Then again, her not waving her hand wasn't the reason I had issues with that scene.

@Icontrol in order to do a mind trick (at least in canon/legends) the hand jester is needed in order for it to work. As the victim looks at the hand...You saying it is just vocal hypnosis??
I don't understand why people gloss over this, Jedi Mind Trick has been around since day one of star wars...

I don't understand why people gloss over this, Jedi Mind Trick has been around since day one of star wars...
I'm only going by the movies since I never read the books or other materials. And I know since Obi-Wan did it in 'A New Hope' on that Stormtrooper. Although, I know Luke doesn't wave his hand on Jabba when doing the trick. But he did it on his assistant.
