Responding to Anonymous, this animation certainly does look surprisingly professional. As for how this kind of thing is done, the basic answer is that the animation program is told how each part of the animation is supposed to look (the each segment of hair, the hat, the head outline, the face, etc) then, those pieces are told to stretch, bend, rotate, or even appear and disappear (i.e. the mist). Making things look this natural is extremely hard, and I'm especially impressed by how the thigh squishes into the hips.
