For what felt like a day, Miriam had been wandering Gebel's castle to stop him. At one point she came across a demon who called himself D-Zen Trisdain and was wary of him. When seeing he was rather gentlemanly and had no hostile intent, Miriam was less concerned but still on guard. Though she had met two other people who were quite friendly and even helpful to her despite being creatures of the dark, a vampire named O.D. and a barber named Todd. Perhaps D-Zen was the same, then?

When D-Zen asked what she was doing in the castle, Miriam explained her reason. She was caught off guard and even a little flustered when he unexpectedly asked her to spend one day courting him. So D-Zen proposed that she decide whether or not he was worth dating at least one time by allowing him to help her on her mission and left it up to her by the time it was over. For some reason, Miriam found herself agreeing to his offer but didn't think about it too much since she was pressed for time.

Little by little, D-Zen earned Miriam's trust and acceptance until they accomplished their mission. As per the agreement, Miriam went on one date with D-Zen. By the end of it, she was glad she accepted his offer from that day because every day since then has been a wonderful experience.
