I mean, as someone pointed out on a previous post for this series: could've just as easily made her a single mom with a college age kid so she's not abandoning anything or even have the kid but a girl so both get enslaved to the hypnotist.

I empathize with the people who don't like the scenario but the story has made it clear multiple times that both the husband and child were means to an end and Dad had already been compromised; he'll probably fully join the fodder pile not long after this.

I think the only thing that separates this from all the other hypno art that have the same circumstances is that this story is putting in on a textual level.

Im pretty sure earlier on they said the husband would be left to care for the kid or something along those lines.
