Before she became Yi Lin's, Nikiru was part of the ruling class on an influential isle, whose people travelled far and wide as esteemed philosophers, teachers and envoys that worked on behalf of other cultures, famed for their silver tongues.

Though gifted with unnatural charms, they had notable gaps in their physical abilities- seemingly unable to retain information on how to bathe, or what qualifies as food- for this reason, they created Bodyservants; people who could do this work for them. Consequently, this ruling class became known as the 'Bodymasters'- those who truly controlled and commanded the muscled servants around them.

When Yi Lin washed up on the shores of their island, Nikiru was the first to find her, and was immediately taken with the woman- drawn to her in a way she couldn't describe but knew was irresistible. She insisted she join her household and that she herself would make her a Bodyservant. And she did.

But she never truly felt comfortable, exercising her own will over Yi Lin...it felt...'wrong', somehow. Yet it seemed she could never bring herself to release Yi Lin either.

It was only as the years went by did Nikiru understand what about it made her uncomfortable- that she was giving Yi Lin orders to serve her, not as a service *to* her. And so she came to understand her Purpose, and how it was that she herself needed to serve...
